From Tearing Down Walls: To Fully Decorating Them
Our home is our safe space.
The place you are allowed to be unapologetically you.
It should give you the best feeling when you wake up and end your day just as cozy.
But what happens when so much of your outside environment has changed and you no longer feel “at home”? What happens when you don’t have that safe space anymore?
I can say from experience that this has happened to me.
It had nothing to do with the actual 4 walls protecting me, but everything to do with inside being filled with a life that no longer felt like mine. It didn’t feel like me, it didn’t feel like my safe place. My idea of what a home should look like was so intertwined with my thoughts of my Mother and after losing her, I didn’t know how to envision my space anymore. And I let those thoughts take my feeling of “home” away.
So, I decided one day – to take my home back. Change it up. Make it feel right again. Make that ‘safe space’ all over again; but it a new and better way.
Not only has this journey been so enlightening, but what you manifest in the world truly does have a way of coming around to you in some way.
We have now been graciously given the chance to take over the property we have been living for the first part of our lives together. We get to give a refresh and make it our own. I couldn’t think of a better gift and a better way to take my life back.
I made this page to help document our journey and also share it with all of you. Who doesn’t love a good home project? And I hope maybe some of my ideas or endeavors can spark some joy and interest for your own space, too!
